The Department of Neuroscience / Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience (CCBN)

CCBN2Welcome to the Department of Neuroscience in the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience. Our research is focused on several areas of strengths including the neurobiology of memory, systems neuroscience, neuro-computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, brain repair, brain and behavior development over the life span, and translational neuroscience.

We provide opportunities for obtaining education and research training for high school students through to post-doctoral fellows with BSc, MSc, and PhD in neuroscience. CCBN enjoys a uniquely intellectually challenging and stimulating environment within which to learn and develop independent and successful careers in neuroscience.

cerebrovascularOpened in 2001, the CCBN is a world-class facility that enables a growing number of principal investigators, their trainees, visiting scientists and technical staff to conduct basic and applied research on all areas involving the brain. The CCBN provides a unique and highly collaborative environment equipped with state of the art equipment and a range of neuroscience tools including ensemble recording, automated functional cellular imaging techniques, two MRI systems and a wide range of behavioural testing suites to perform neuroscience research.

Graduate programs (MSc and PhD) in behavioural neuroscience at the CCBN provide an outstanding training environment, taking students out of the classroom and into the rich world of research. Trainees are immersed in programs that are interdisciplinary in nature, incorporating research interests in learning and memory, systems neuroscience, neural plasticity, neuroethology, motor systems, sleep, cognitive neuroscience, brain development, addiction and the neurobiology of disease.
