- Who are your influences?
I would say probably Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar, Anne Rice, Susanna Clarke, Margaret Atwood, Ted Chiang, and Neil Gaiman. But also Poe, Quiroga, Lovecraft, Wilkie Collins, Anne Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis.
- Describe your artistic style.
In Spanish, people would describe what I do as fantastic literature. In English, I guess that it would be shelved either in Science Fiction or in Fantasy. Mostly, what I write pushes the boundaries of reality into a different realm, but retaining ties with our world and our reality. My speculative fiction questions how far can our technologies go before they become harmful while it also explores the consequences of leaving unchecked the worse aspects of human nature.
- In your free time, what do you like to do?
When I have free time, I like to read, cook for friends, and work with my hands (bookbinding, printing, drawing, knitting).
- What advice would you give aspiring artists?
Find someone who gets your art and share it with that person. In the end, you only need one supportive person in your audience.
