University congratulates Dr. Lesley Brown on MRU appointment

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Lesley Brown, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic), on her appointment as Provost and Vice-President (Academic) of Mount Royal University effective July 1, 2017.

Lesley joined the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Lethbridge in 1997 following a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oregon. Over the course of her career, Lesley built an active research program exploring issues of balance and fall prevention in the elderly and in people with Parkinson’s disease. Since 2010, Lesley has provided leadership in the academic portfolio as well as in advancing the research enterprise of the institution, having served previously as the Associate Vice-President (Research) and the Interim Vice-President (Research).

Lesley has been instrumental in helping grow our academic and research programs, including her role in the development of the inaugural University of Lethbridge Strategic Research Plan, the formalization of Research Centres and Institutes, and the development and leadership of the AGILITY program.

A decision on the position of Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic) will be made in the months ahead.

Again, please join me in congratulating Dr. Brown on her appointment and thanking her for her service to the University of Lethbridge.

Dr. Andrew Hakin
Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
