New process for requesting funding support from the VPR

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

The Vice-President (Research) receives numerous requests throughout the year for funding in support of research activities. In light of the increasing number and types of requests, and the modest budget available, the VPR is implementing a more formal mechanism to consider requests. Details on the two programs are as follows:

  • The Outreach and Knowledge Mobilization Fund supports events that stem from U of L research and creative activities and encourage the sharing of knowledge with colleagues and the broader community.  Eligible activities include outreach activities, workshops, symposia or conferences.  Program details are available here.
  • The Strategic Research Fund supports activities that develop, increase, or strengthen research excellence at the U of L. It is designed to be a flexible program to provide support for a range of activities, provided they align with the goals outlined the strategic research plan.  This includes research collaboration and development, bridge funding and matching funds for external grants.  Requests should be considered one-time contributions and are non-renewable.  Program details are available here.

Three competitions will be held annually, with intake deadlines of January 15, May 15 and September 15.  Although no maximum grant size is identified, given the limited funds, applicants are advised to keep their budgets/requests reasonable.
