Library Distance Delivery Services Available

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

The University Library is now providing distance delivery services to members of the University Community (students, academic staff, and staff).

How does it work?

BOOKS: If you locate a circulating item in Summon or the classic catalogue, select the “Request” button.

MEDIA: If you are requesting media (e.g., Blu-ray or DVD), select “Book” [Summon] or “Book This Material” [classic catalogue].

The item(s) will be retrieved and mailed to you.

Do I qualify for distance delivery?

To qualify as a distance patron, you need to live outside a radius of 90km from Lethbridge and reside in Canada.

How long does it take to get to me?

Packages are typically in the mail within 2 business days. How long it takes to arrive depends on the postal system and where you live.

What does it cost?

The service is provided at no charge. Return postage is provided, so do not discard the package your request comes in or the return label that is included in the plastic pouch.

How long do I have materials?

Normal loan rules will apply for your specific patron category. Loans will not be provided indefinitely.

What does the Library need from you?

We need you to do three things:

  1. Keep your mailing address up-to-date.
  2. Enter “Distance” in the “Please specify any special instructions:” box at the time of your request.
  3. Have realistic expectations of delivery. If you live in the Atlantic provinces and need an item in 3 days, we may cancel your request.

Please contact the Library Services Desk (gsd.library@uleth.ca) for more details or if you have questions.
