The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Russell J. Leskiw (LLD '93), who passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015 at the age of 86.
Leskiw had a long and successful career in education administration that included teaching in a one-room school, being the first acting president of the University of Lethbridge, and then its dean of education. He also worked in the United States and abroad in Jamaica and Guyana.
Russ and his wife Evelyn raised their family in Alberta, Oregon, Arizona and British Columbia, where they’ve lived since 1975.

A celebration of life service will be held in Surrey, B.C. on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
The flag will be lowered on Oct. 10 in his honour.
