Banner Revitalization - HR proactive on payroll process

Human Resources has been preparing for the Banner Revitalization project for more than 18 months, says Deb Robb, HR Analyst. “We began to work toward getting payroll back to baseline when we first became aware of the project. It provided a head start and enabled us to manage the workload we knew was coming.”

The HR project team has removed many customizations and streamlined internal processes during this time. The latest change was with the payroll year restructuring that took place in January. “The payroll year now follows the calendar instead of the fiscal year. This is how the product was intended to be used.” To keep records clean, the payroll identifier was changed to MN for monthly and HR for hourly, Robb says.

“We are now focused on taking out the customizations built for employees’ new leave balance entitlements that are connected to yearly anniversary dates. It will be a year-long transition because leave balances for some employee groups, AUPE for example, are calculated on their anniversary date.”

She adds that affected employees may notice a difference in how that information is displayed when they check their Time Off Current Balances and History in the Bridge. “The information will be accurate, but it will be captured differently.”
