On November 24, 2015, local agriculture enterprise owners Chris Perry and Harold Perry will be sharing their experience and insight on decreasing dependence on non-renewable resources in the agriculture sector. Discussion topics include:

  • Generating power from waste (biodigester, base load power into the grid) and sun (microsolar generation)
  • Advanced engineering of potato storage
  • Driving down input costs while improving crop quality
  • Big data in agriculture
  • Trying new ideas on the farm – even crazy ones!

Chris Perry and Harold Perry describe themselves as “spud farmers,” and they are progressive leaders with a vision to thoroughly integrate environmental stewardship and innovative technology into agriculture. The brothers are using science and sustainable farming practices to achieve their goal of reducing farm inputs (water, fuel, electricity and synthetic fertilizer) by 20 per cent while increasing net yields by 20 per cent by the year 2020.

The Perry brothers are amongst our region’s most innovative agriculture entrepreneurs. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn from successful and experienced entrepreneurs!

This talk is open to students and friends of the University. There will be an opportunity to mingle with the Perry brothers. Refreshments will be provided.

There is no cost to attend, but seating is limited – be sure to sign up early!
