Soccer Camp

Practice with the HORNS

Enjoy a week of customized soccer clinics with our varsity athletic coaches and meet ULethbridge athletes.

  • Co-ed athletes welcome.
  • 3 hours of soccer practice from Monday to Friday.
  • Play on our state-of-the-art community stadium.
  • Get stronger through professional conditioning and strength training in our High-Performance Sports Development Centre.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

Experience STEM on a university campus

Explore labs, run experiments, and meet changemakers in Southern Alberta. In Physics, learn about the science of electric guitar and how we observe and study extrasolar planets. Head to Biochemistry to load samples into advanced equipment. Don't miss the Innovation Zone for design challenges and coding guidance from ULethbridge experts!

Destination Exploration (DE) is a ULethbridge youth outreach program, run under the Faculty of Arts & Science, which provides a variety of hands-on and engaging science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) youth programs. International high school-aged students will be able to access our custom Experience U program which gives students a traditional university experience in STEM.

Program Information

English Language Requirements: High-Intermediate Level

This program is conducted entirely in English. Students with a lower than high-intermediate English level may find this program challenging.

Recommended English test scores:

  • Duolingo English Test:  80 or higher
  • Academic IELTS: 5.0 or higher
  • TOEFL (iBT) o TOEFL iBT Home Edition: 50 or higher
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 40 or higher

*These scores are for information purposes only and are used to estimate applicant English levels to help guide student camp course selections. If you do not meet the high-intermediate level of English, please contact us for options.

Age Requirement: High School - grade 10 to grade 12; typically aged 15 to 18.

Participants must be of the appropriate age before the first day of camp. If you are too young to participate this year, we look forward to seeing you in our programs next year. If you want to attend but have graduated high school, please email jesc@uleth.ca to inquire further. 

At least one responsible adult is required to travel with each group of students. The preferred student-to-chaperone ratio is 10:1.

There are three camp packages available: BASIC, PLUS, & PREMIUM. All applicants will automatically be signed up for the basic package. If you are also interested in the additional PLUS or PREMIUM activities/tours, please let us know. Conditions do apply.

What is included in the BASIC camp package:

  • Bus pick up and drop off from Calgary International Airport (YYC)
  • Varsity soccer clinics and training - 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday
  • Experience U - STEM activities - 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday
  • Past activities focused on Physics, Astronomy, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Innovation and Design, Genetic Engineering and more.
  • Local social programming and evening activities including but not limited to:
    • swimming (on campus or local waterpark),
    • rock climbing,
    • museum tours,
    • Indigenous games,
    • bowling,
    • movie nights,
    • visits to a local observatory, 
    • nature walk, and
    • trampoline park.
  • On-campus accommodations; shared 4-bedroom apartment
  • Letter of Acceptance to apply for travel authorization to Canada
  • Three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, & dinner) for the duration of the camp*
  • Experienced teachers, coaches, and activities coordinators
  • Faculty Showcase/Open House
  • Camper swag such as a T-shirt, water bottle, and other mementos
  • JESC certificate of completion
  • 24/7 on-campus supervision

*Except for breakfast on the day of arrival and dinner on the day of departure.

What is not Included in the BASIC package:

  • Pre-arrival and post-departure day meals
  • Travel insurance
  • Personal spending money
  • Waterton National Park weekend trip

Additional Packages:

  • Plus Package: Waterton National Park horseback riding tour
  • Premium Package: Banff National Park tour before or after camp dates (2 days, 1 night)

    • English level: Advanced, High-Intermediate, Intermediate, or Pre-Intermediate
      • if you have completed a test, please provide a copy of your results
    • Camp name: JESC Soccer and STEM
    • Indicate if you or your group want to be considered for the additional PLUS and/or PREMIUM packages. This is optional.
      • Condition of added packages: minimum student numbers are required to provide this option. You will only be charged if the package is made available.

Thiago is originally from Brazil and joined the University of Lethbridge with six years of experience coaching in Canada, and competing at an elite level. Thiago's approach as a coach includes prioritizing results on the field and focusing on students' mental health and physical well-being.

Our Evening & Weekend Social Activities

Outside of class, you will have plenty of activities to look forward to. From rock climbing, visiting the trampoline park, going to the movies, bowling, and enjoying our local Waterpark, your evenings and weekends will be full of fun. You will also have the exciting opportunity to visit the famous Alberta Rocky Mountains in Waterton National Park. Additional add-ons are available. Some activities are subject to an additional fee.
