The University of Lethbridge’s innovative Professional Development Program (PDP) is open and free to all Dhillon School of Business students in any year of your degree. It is designed to provide you with further insight, knowledge, skills and experiences that assist you throughout your academic career and prepare you even further for your future profession. Not only will you gain insight and knowledge about your career path, but you will become more self-aware and confident in how you can contribute to your community after graduation.

What does the Professional Development Program offer?
Industry networking and speaker events
These events include advice from keynote speakers and panels, and networking opportunities with relevant industry professionals.
These workshops feature topics critical to professional success like networking, leadership, communication, emotional intelligence, StrengthsFinder assessments and Excel skills. They also include information sessions led by professional organizations
Case competitions allow you to analyze a business challenge and use the theories you've learned in class to create innovative solutions. Once you've come up with your problem-solving plan, you'll present in teams to a panel of industry and academic judges with your peers. The Dhillon School of Business holds two internal case competitions each year-- the KPMG Case Competition and Cor Van Raay Case Competition. You can also represent uLethbridge in other inter-campus competitions that happen throughout the year after competing in a qualifier.
An on-campus initiative that connects senior executives with students in class and one-to-one small groups settings. Past executives have included President and CEO of the Calgary Flames Ken King and Chair, President and CEO of ATCO Limited and Chair and CEO of Canadian Utilities Limited Nancy Southern.
Professional Development Conference
The annual two-day $30 conference includes keynote presentations, interactive workshops, a networking event with industry professionals and all meals.
CPA Leadership and Innovation Speaker Series
Through generous sponsorship from the Chartered Professional Accountants, this speaker series brings in Innovative and engaging leaders from diverse sectors to share their knowledge, insights and experiences on relevant business topics. Past speakers include WestJet founder Don Bell, CFL star and leadership expert Michael "Pinball" Clemons, and Entrepreneur and Dragon's Den personality Brett Wilson.
Professional Development Program funding
If you plan to participate in external case competitions or you are a student leader (executive of a business club) planning to attend a conference, you are able to apply for funding through PDP.
