Oki, today is the first day of the Fall 2021 term — and one of the most anticipated fall semesters in our University’s history. After 18 months of learning virtually, our students are returning to our Lethbridge and Calgary campuses, and it’s incredible to see the energy and vibrancy their arrival brings.
I would like to recognize the tremendous efforts of our staff and faculty who have worked tirelessly to get us to this point — and who continue to provide our students with one of Canada’s top educational experiences and ensure the University’s operations under trying circumstances. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our students and our University.
To our students — welcome back!
You are truly the reason the University exists and we are so happy to see you back on campus. If this is your first year at uLethbridge, or your first year attending on campus — a very special welcome to you. Embrace your new surroundings, connect with other students and engage with the amazing faculty and staff here to support you.
I hope everyone takes the time to explore all uLethbridge and our southern Alberta community have to offer.
It’s important to recognize that even with all the excitement of our return to campus, this isn’t an ordinary semester and our journey to emerge from the pandemic continues. The health and safety of our community is our paramount priority.
To ensure everyone’s safety: masks are mandatory on campus, and all students, staff and faculty require a weekly negative rapid test to access campus. Those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can be exempt from this requirement by indicating you have been vaccinated. Please submit your rapid testing and vaccine declarations through the uLethbridge Safe app or website before coming to campus.
There is also a lot happening behind the scenes to keep you safe. We have enhanced our cleaning and sanitizing procedures and improved ventilation and air-filtration in our campus buildings.
As the fall term gets underway, please remember, our individual actions play a significant role in keeping our community safe and healthy. Please make wise and safe choices in your daily activities.
Vaccines truly are the best way to protect ourselves, our families, our friends and our coworkers. Vaccines are highly effective against all known variants, especially for preventing severe outcomes. If you haven’t already done so – please – get fully vaccinated as soon as possible.
