New grad? Move your mail to @alumni.uleth.ca

As a graduate of the U of L, we have created an alumni email account for you: username@alumni.uleth.ca. This new address is designed to emphasize your status as a member of the U of L alumni, and the account uses the same Google Apps services you utilized as a student.

Your alumni account is ready for you to use right away – you can access it by visiting https://webmail.uleth.ca and clicking the “Alumni Login” button.

Please note that your student email account (username@uleth.ca) is separate from your alumni email accounts (username@alumni.uleth.ca). Unless you are or will be a student or employee of the University, your student email account will be removed one year following your graduation. If you wish to retain the email in your student account, you must move it to your new @alumni.uleth.ca email account prior to that time.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the IT Services Solutions Centre at help@uleth.ca

Below are the step-by-step instructions to assist you with the move.

3. Select Settings.
4. Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

5. In the “POP Download” section, select Enable POP for all mail.

6. In the drop-down menu next to: “2. When messages are accessed with POP,” choose what to do with messages in this account, such as keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox (recommended).

8. Refresh your password:

You may need to update your password in the system in order for the POP account to correctly sync. You can do this using the form at https://www.uleth.ca/webtools/account_tools/pswdchng

If you would like, you can change the password back afterwards. It needs to be changed once to refresh the credentials in the POP system.

Then, change your settings in your new @alumni.uleth.ca account:

1. Open your alumni email account by going to webmail.uleth.ca and selecting Alumni Login on the Student/Alumni Tab.

4. Select the Accounts and Import tab.

5. In the Check mail from other accounts (using POP3) section, click Add a POP3 mail account you own.

6. Enter the full email address of the other account, then click Next Step.

7. Enter your password.

8. Click the POP Server dropdown, select "other", and then input "pop.gmail.com".

9. Now you have a few options to choose from. Here's our recommended settings:

      • Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server - Leave unchecked. This setting is controlled in the POP settings of your other account.
      • Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail - Keep checked.
      • Label incoming messages - Check the box if you’d like to easily see which emails in your inbox came from this account.
      • Archive incoming messages - Leave unchecked. Only check if you don’t want to see new messages from the other account in your inbox.

    10. Click Add Account. If you get an error message while getting set up, click the Show error details link to find out more about what's not working.

    11. Once your account has been added successfully, you'll be asked if you want to be able to send mail as this address. This lets you compose messages in Gmail, but have them appear to be sent from your other email account. We recommend that you do not enable this feature.

Gmail will check your other account for new emails periodically. You can see when the toher account was last checked formthe Accounts and Import tab in Settings.

If you only want to import old emails, you can stop importing mail after your old messages have been imported. See directions below.
