Activities for the Community
On Saturday, May 7, the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery will be putting on a special version of their regurlar Saturday programming activity Culture Vulture Saturday for the Conference. In addition, there will be a display of University programs that are geared towards children and the community.
The Culture Vulture Saturday activity for the conference is: Landscape Button Maps
The Art Gallery will combine their most popular Culture Vulture Saturday activities by mixing the themes of landscape and mapping. Come and make your very own personalized map of landscape buttons! (5 buttons for $3 with all proceeds going to Trap/door Artist Run Centre.)
The display will include some of the following:
LUMACS (Life yoU Mathematics And Computer Science) is the outreach program for the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge. Their goal is to encourage interest in Mathematics and Computer Sciences. LUMACS volunteers will be available to offer hands on activities that incorporate everything from crafts and robots to code breaking.
Destination Exploration at the University of Lethbridge provides programs to encourage interest and participation in science for children grades one through nine. At their exhibit they will be demonstrating some of their favorite science activities including slime, tornadoes, and lava lamps.
The University of Lethbridge Music Conservatory will be on hand to provide information about their program. The Music Conservatory offers music instruction in private, class, and ensemble settings to children and adults of all ages. Their highly trained professionals are from the Department of Music, local distinguished musicians, and selected senior students, offering top quality professional music instruction in a friendly, personal environment.
