Strategic Research Plan, 2017/18 to 2019/20
This plan builds on the previous plan, Charting our Course, and outlines the strategic priorities that will chart the direction and inform the focus of research for the University of Lethbridge in our expanded mission as a comprehensive university. We state explicitly that research is defined in the broadest, most inclusive manner. Throughout this document, the term 'research' is best viewed as a placeholder for the diverse disciplinary pursuits that lead to knowledge and understanding: pure basic research, scholarly inquiry, applied research, adaptive research, creative activities, and knowledge exchange.
We are committed to:
- Elevating research, scholarly inquiry, and creative activity;
- Preparing the next generation;
- Enhancing community outreach and engagement; and
- Supporting industry engagement, knowledge mobilization and translation.
The renewed plan is transformative. It intertwines the academic and research portfolios to more effectively support the quality, impact, and capacity of research and creative activity at the University of Lethbridge. While providing leadership in all areas of research, the University of Lethbridge will build platforms of knowledge mobilization and translation, which will confirm our unique identity as a Destination University within the Canadian university landscape.
