On Campus Recruiting (OCR)

ON CAMPUS RECRUITMENT (OCR) CHECKLIST

On Campus Recruiting (or OCR) is the process by which employers recruit UofL students and graduates 'IN ADVANCE' for summer and full-time new graduate jobs for next year.

CES facilitates their recruitment by posting positions, collecting resumes, booking interview rooms, scheduling interviews and arranging information sessions.

If you are a registered Coop student, STOP here! Generally you cannot apply on Coop & OCR positions at the same time. Contact your Coop coordinator to discuss your job search options and choose the best route for you.

If you can check off all the boxes below you are set to GO for OCR!!

Step 1.

Attend an OCR Information Session.  Several are booked in Lethbridge and we have scheduled one session in both Calgary and Edmonton.  If you can't attend a workshop review this checklist carefully and follow the steps

**If your goal is a CA articling position check out ON-LINE CA STUDENT RECRUITMENT GUIDE at:

Step 3.

View JOB POSTINGS on the CES job board. Sign on with your uleth username and password to view fulltime and summer OCR postings.

Step 4.

Attend “Information Sessions” as employers come on campus to recruit.  Employer events will be posted on our website, CES bulletin boards, the UofL “Notice Board”, the Meliorist newspaper, and in office. If you aren’t in Lethbridge we’ll try to keep you informed of events in other centres.

Remember to APPLY to OCR jobs as they become advertised.

Step 5.

Order a copy of your transcripts by filling out a transcript request form.  Drop it off or Fax it to the Registrar’s Office. Ask for the unofficial transcript printed on special blue paper with the seal and signature of the Registrar.  Employers will accept good clean photocopies.

For Online Applications and if you Need Transcripts Immediately?

You can attach an unofficial copy from“The Bridge” & indicate to the employer that you will forward them a more official copy if needed.

For more information on obtaining transcripts, check out: http://www.uleth.ca/ross/transcript.html

Step 6.

Develop a strong resume and cover letter and prepare for Interviews.

Target the skills and experience relevant to the jobs you seek.  Need Help…? - Sign up for a resume, job search or interview workshop.  If you already have a targeted resume a Career & Employment Advisor can provide a brief critique

Not on the Lethbridge campus? We can arrange to help you over E-mail or by phone.
