Finding People, Places, and Things

How can I find supports for First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) students?
Calgary Campus students have access to the Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre through Bow Valley College. Resources that can be accessed through the Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre include elder advising, consultations, and spirituality resources, speakers and information sessions, and a gathering place to study.

Where can I pay tuition fees?

The easiest way to pay your fee is via your online banking website using your student ID number as the account number. You can also come to our Calgary Campus to pay your fees with debit, cheque, bank draft, or money order.

Where can I get my student ID?

Please come to our Calgary Campus office, located on the 6th floor of the South Campus of Bow Valley College. You will need to bring a piece of government issued photo ID, and our front desk staff would be happy to get a student ID card created for you.

How do I find my way around campus?
The front desk staff are happy to help you find out where your class is or point out other areas! The naming convention at Bow Valley College is pretty simple—your classroom will start with either N (for North) or S (for South). The first digit of the room number denotes the corresponding floor. For example, S6032 is in the South Campus, 6th floor, room 032.

If you’d like to arrange a tour, please contact the Calgary Campus office.

How can I get to know my classmates better outside of class?

It can be hard to get to know your classmates outside of class when so many of our students are working during the day, taking classes during the night, and trying to spend time with their families. Make an effort to talk to your classmates. It can be difficult to get a conversation going, but many students are balancing similar things that you are. You can meet a study buddy and make a new friend.

The Management Student’s Society (MSS) is a great way to get to know your classmates as they host a variety of events every semester. Check out their Facebook page for more information and upcoming events.

The Calgary Campus Clubs are another excellent way to meet people and cover a variety of interests. At this time, the Calgary Campus currently has three clubs: Accounting, Finance, and Marketing.

Where can I get more information about networking?

Our Calgary Campus hosts a variety of networking and professional development events! The best way to find out about upcoming events is through our weekly Thursday’s Thoughts emails. We also post about upcoming events on our Facebook page as well as on our website.

I left something (sweater, cellphone, textbook, etc.) in my classroom, how can I get it back?
Check with the instructor to see if they saw it before they left—many times the instructor will bring forgotten items to the Calgary Campus office after class so they can be picked up.

Check with the Calgary Campus as well as the Bow Valley College security desk to see if either office has had anything turned in.

What happens if my laptop dies before class and I need my computer?
Keep your laptop charged for your class. If the battery dies quickly, carry your charger with you. Classrooms and lobby areas sometimes have conveniently located electrical outlets that you can use, but don’t count on them being available!

Always be prepared to take notes with paper and pen, just in case.

If you have an assignment or paper due, talk to your professor and explain the situation. It’s a good idea to try to complete things early to avoid last minute situations like these.

University of Lethbridge students have access to all of the computers available on the Bow Valley College campus. In particular, the Bow Valley College library holds 103 computers available for student use. To use one of these computers, please contact the Calgary Campus to get a temporary username and login and make sure to bring your student ID with you so security can see it if needed.

Where can I eat on and off campus?

Is there a gym nearby?

Unlike Lethbridge campus students, Calgary campus students do not pay the Sport and Recreation Services fee as we do not offer gym facilities on campus. We have created a guide to help see which gym facilities are nearby, available here.

Where do I park?

There are a lot of options for parking nearby the Calgary Campus and evening rates are often quite cheap. While not exhaustive, we do have a parking nearby guide available.
