...on checking the Smithsonian Research Information System their search for an Earnest Rost brought up an Ernest Christian Rost who was born in 1867 and died in 1940.

Are we talking a father & son?

Over the past year Our Heritage website has received a number of enquiries from people who have E. C. Rost prints from the same period . They all have requests along the same line:

"We also have a large etching by Ernest C. Rost. Ours is dated 1890, and we found it in an antique shop near Chicago, IL. We have not been able to find any information regarding Rost. We only seem to find others who are also seeking info about him."
