Who was E.C. Rost?

Checking further in D. M Stauffer's American Engravers etc. 1907 and M. F

Fielding's Dictionary of American Painters etc 1926 revealed the following:

Rost, Christian

Engraver. Born in Germany. He studied in Paris and in London, and in the latter city he made the drawings and engraved on wood for a work describing the exhibits at the London World's Fair of 1850. It is not known when Mr Rost came to the U.S., but he was engraving very good portraits and subject plates in line in New York in 1860. In 1865, he was in the employ of George E. Perrine, and at a later date he was employed by the American Bank Note Co. He died in 1905 at Mount Vernon, NY.

But are Christian Rost and E.C. Rost the same person?
