Pronghorn athletes achieve Academic All-Canadian status

A total of 44 University of Lethbridge Pronghorn student-athletes achieved Academic All-Canadian status, as announced by Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) this week.

The Pronghorns women's hockey team led the way in total number of Academic All-Canadians with nine team members earning the recognition.

The 44 Pronghorns recognized as Academic All-Canadians accounts for more than 20 per cent of the program's athletes. The 2013-14 Pronghorn Academic All-Canadians are also the first recipients of the recently re-named Deb Steacy AAC Scholarship, created in honour of the late Deb Steacy.

The Pronghorns women's hockey team led the way in total number of Academic All-Canadians with nine team members earning the recognition. The Horns women's soccer team was next in line with eight athletes honoured while women's rugby and men's basketball each produced five Academic All-Canadians.

Every year, the CIS honours student-athletes who excel in sport at the university level, while maintaining an 80 per cent average in their academics. This is an outstanding accomplishment considering the amount of time student-athletes commit to training. Routinely, Pronghorn Athletics possesses an above average per capita number of Academic All-Canadians recipients in the CIS.

The University of Lethbridge is pleased to recognize the achievement of the following outstanding student-athletes.
