Operation Red Nose achieves great success

A busy Operation Red Nose campaign came to an end in the early morning hours of January 1, 2017 and when the results were tallied, it prove to be a very successful year for Pronghorn Athletics and the southern Alberta community at large.

In total, the 12-night campaign saw volunteer Red Nose crews provide 1,159 safe rides to the southern Alberta community. More than 23,000 kilometres were covered and 629 volunteers were utilized. On New Year's Eve alone, Operation Red Nose provided 147 safe rides home.

During the 2016 season, Operation Red Nose collected $27,141.29 in donations from patrons that used the service and another $17,200 in corporate donations for a yearly total of $44,341.29. All proceeds from the Operation Red Nose campaign go directly back to the Pronghorn teams.

Since its inception 22 years ago, Operation Red Nose has raised more than $690,000 in support of Pronghorn Athletics. All the while, the program has provided a valuable annual service to the southern Alberta community, helping to keep our roads safe from impaired drivers.

This year’s campaign could not have been successful without the immense support from volunteers, local businesses and the entire community. Operation Red Nose and Pronghorn Athletics would like to sincerely thank everyone who made this year’s campaign an overwhelming success.
