Native Awareness Week, Mar. 2-6

It promises to be a week of celebrating the Aboriginal culture as Native Awareness Week takes hold of the U of L campus beginning Monday.

Opening with a Monday film festival and closing with Friday's Women Scholars Speaker Series lecture by Nancy Janovicek, Native Awareness Week presents a glimpse of many facets of Aboriginal history.

Some of the highlights include a Tuesday pipe ceremony, followed by drummers and dancers, all of which takes place in the UHall Atrium. Wednesday offers an alumni discussion panel as well as hand game and fry bread demonstrations, while Thursday's entertainment includes master hypnotist and entertainer Kiitokii. Friday concludes with and Art Now lecture from Neal McLeod and Janovicek's talk about battered women's shelters in northwestern Ontario.
