Menopausal women sought for study

The Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education at the University of Lethbridge is looking for volunteers to participate in a research study on physical activity during the midlife transition.

Specifically, menopausal women are being sought to participate in a 10-week activity program of group walking or yoga classes free of charge. Women aged 45 to 60, experiencing menopausal symptoms and not currently on hormone therapy or a regular exercise program may be eligible to participate.

The goal of the research study is to gauge the effects of activity on the fitness and hormone levels of menopausal women.

Participants will receive free group classes in either walking or yoga, along with pre and post assessments to monitor changes in hormone levels, muscular strength and menopause symptoms. Classes begin in mid-September and continue through late November.
