The University of Lethbridge's Dr. Susan McDaniel has been approved as Vice Chair of the Council of Canadian Academies' Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC).

McDaniel is a professor of sociology at the U of L and the director of the Prentice Institute and Prentice Research Chair in Global Population & Economy. An internationally known sociologist/social demographer, and the author of many books and research articles, McDaniel is a frequent advisor on social and science policies both in Canada and elsewhere.

She has served as a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee since its inception.
