Hamper program begins

The University of Lethbridge's Conference and Event Services Office is once again co-ordinating with the Lethbridge YWCA to promote the annual Christmas Hamper Program.

The Christmas Hamper Program helps families in need, at what can be a difficult time of year. This Christmas season, they are again looking for the campus community to participate in this holiday program. Last year, University departments were able to donate 12 hampers to the YWCA.

Those departments that participate will have the option to adopt a small, medium or large size family. Once that is decided, the YWCA and will provide a family profile detailing each member by gender, age and size (S/M/L). They will also provide any specific requests that the family may have. Please note that these requests are just suggestions and you have no obligation to provide everything on the list.

Each hamper should contain gifts for each family member and food for Christmas dinner, with the suggested value of the hamper at $50-100 per person for gifts, plus the cost of food. Hampers need to be dropped off at K100 (Kainai House) no later than Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. Conference and Event Services will then transport all of the donated hampers to the YWCA so that they can be distributed to the families prior to Christmas.

Those interested in the Christmas Hamper Program can email cnf@uleth.ca by noon, Friday, Nov. 18. Please remember to include your preferred family size. Conference and Event Services will contact those who are interested early next week with information about your family so that you will have enough time to get out and shop before the hampers need to be returned.
