OER bring a broad range of benefits to the students as well as the educators. Among others they:

  • facilitate collaboration among content experts and students;
  • ensure academic freedom to use, modify, retain and share content;
  • enhance research and teaching visibility;
  • provide more relevant and up-to-date materials to students;
  • improve student retention and learning outcomes by reducing cost;
  • grant learners access to knowledge and quality education (Sustainable Development Goal 4) anytime;
  • invite students to become content creators through meaningful assigments.
