Wellness Events

At the Student Success Centre, we understand that receiving a university education can be a stressful experience for many students. So, throughout the year we run many events to help improve the overall mental health of the student population by both offering stress relief activities and teaching students healthy ways of coping with stress and anxiety.

World Mental Health Day/Light Up Purple (October 10th)

On this day, supporters gather to create more awareness and attention towards mental health. There continues to be an increasing need to provide information on coping strategies and information for emotional wellness. The Light Up Purple campaign was created in honor of Amanda Todd and her memory. Faculty, Staff, and Students are encouraged to wear purple to show solidarity and help us recognize and promote more awareness about mental health, mental illness and mental wellness on campus. The Student Success Centre will host a table in the UCA Atrium from 10am-3pm with mental health resources and activities for students. Staff and Faculty are also welcome to stop by.

Other ways to get involved:

  • talk to your family, friends, and colleagues about mental health issues
  • discuss World Mental Health day in class and with your students
  • take a selfie or group photo with your purple attire and post to social media with #lightuppurple OR #worldmentalhealthday AND #uleth
  • get informed about the available mental health resources on campus and in the community
  • stop or drive by Lethbridge City Hall: the building will be lit up with purple lights to show support
