Private Swim Lessons

Private Swim Lesson registration is now open.

All of us at Horns Recreation would like to thank you for your patience as the pandemic has provided several challenges to offering our community programs.

Alongside our other community programs, we are excited to announce that this time we will be offering 45 minute, 1-on-1 private swimming lessons for ages 7+. Participants must be able to swim independently & previously completed Lifesaving Swim for Life Level 3 (see below for other program equivalents). We will not be offering semi-private lessons at this time.

Learn steps to improve all aspects of your technique. Let us know what you would like to improve and leave the rest up to us! Your instructor will customize the lesson to your needs.

In compliance with provincial COVID-19 guidelines, we ask the following:

  • Wear a mask: Masks are mandatory in Horns Recreation facilities. Participants must wear their mask until they are required to enter the water and again upon exiting. Our instructors are required to wear masks unless they need to enter the water for demonstrations, they will be socially distanced at all times.

  • Before your lesson: Arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to the start time, come ready to swim in your swim suit. This is to prevent congestion in high traffic areas.

  • Viewing your lesson: In accordance with physical distancing guidelines, only 1 parent per child will be allowed for viewing on pool deck. Families are required to wait by one of the tables on the pool deck. They are spaced out to be able to be socially distanced. Please go to the same seating as you did on the first lesson of the session. Each family will keep the same chair for the remainder of the session. Areas are disinfected after each lesson and ready for the next set.
*Please note: In the situation where your child can not swim independently, you will be required to assist in the water, otherwise the lesson will be discontinued.

  • After your lesson: Participants will finish their lesson 2-5 minutes early to allow time for a lesson summary and answer any questions you may have. We ask that you use the change rooms minimally and exit the facility promptly.
  • No Gathering: Current guidelines require all individual households to remain socially distanced at all times.

Thank you for your patience and support as we slowly restore our private swimming lesson program!
