In less than 50 years, the University of Lethbridge has built an outstanding record of research performance, and is one of Canada’s leading research institutions.
Thanks to donor support, our faculty and students are bringing new light to problems and possibilities. The results of these efforts extend well beyond campus and impact communities across Alberta and around the world.
As we look to the future, we plan to build on this momentum to generate new ideas with even further-reaching benefits.
How do we do that? By enhancing research and creative activities at the U of L. We need your help to increase support for our centres and institutes, create more endowed Chairs and establish partnerships with organizations and industry.
The late Dr. John Prentice (LLD’ 06) was one visionary who transformed research at the U of L.
In 2006, he and his family established the Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy. Today the Prentice Institute has become a leading research centre, one of only a few worldwide that this focused on global population changes and the economy.
An agri-business entrepreneur, Dr. Prentice once said: “I have chosen to endow the Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy at the University of Lethbridge because I believe that long-term demographic and economic cycles are under researched, and that improved knowledge in these areas would inform the public and cause both individuals and governments to make better decisions, thus changing the course of history for the better. I hope that the Institute will encourage people to take a more global approach when setting policy and making personal decisions.”
