Service Advisory

We are open, but services are only availble online via ZOOM or over the phone.

If you had a scheduled appointment the Sexual Violence Prevention Educator will contact you to arrange an online or phone meeting.

At this point in time the Sexual Violence Prevention Educator will not be offering in person trainings, events or outreach events, please continue to check back for updates.

Support and Appointment Information

If you been affected by or subjected to sexual violence and are needing an appointment with the Sexual Violence Prevention Educator for support or referrals please email: 

The following times listed below are our current appointment time slots. When you email the SVPE please indicate your preferred date and time for an appointment and we will do our best to accommodate. Please note you can select any time within these hours and appointments are typically 1 hour in length. 

Appointment Hours: 

  • Morning hours: 9:00am - 11:00am
  • Afternoon hours: 1:30pm - 3:30pm
  • If you are needing an evening appointment accommodation can be made for this.

Please note: the sexual violence prevention educator does not offer counselling, they will however refer you out to one of the counsellors in Counselling and Career Services, or a counsellor in the community if this is the modality of support you are looking for.

Service support for domestic and sexual violence; trauma and crisis prevention/intervention; advocacy & awareness. 

  • Crisis line: 403-320-1881 or toll-free 1-866-296-0447 (24 hour)
  • YWCA Harbour House is a 30-bed crisis unit for women and children who are involved in abusive intimate partner relationships.
  • In the hospital, the Amethyst Project provides three different courses of action that one can take directly following a sexual assault. The Amethyst Project provides emotional support and referrals to other agencies in the community. Please note these services may be limited during COVID-19

Online Support Resources

Online Counselling Support: 

  • In light of the COVID-19 situation, effective immediately counselling and career services is no longer offering face-to-face appointments (for the time being), all counselling and career coaching appointments have been moved to a tele-counselling format (zoom or phone).
  • If you are in need of an appointment and do not already have one booked, please contact counselling via email: 

Phone call Medical Support: 

The on campus Health Centre is still open but currently operating off of limited, the new hours of operation are: 

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:00am -12:00pm. 

If you are needing an appointment with the Health Centre you must call in to book an appointment. There is a screening process in place and if your appointment can take place over phone the physician will call you so that you do not have to come into campus.

Continuing undergraduate students are encouraged to submit the scholarship and awards application before May 1, 2020 for Fall 2020 payments.

Self-care During Isolation

During this time it is important to be gentle to ourselves as we try to figure out this new way of life. With so many changes to our daily lives and routine, practicing social distancing and isolation can impact many aspects of our lives one, of those being our mental health. If you find it helpful we have created a list of tips and resources to help assist  you through COVID-19.

Many of our local yoga studios are offering free or by donation classes that you can practice in the safety of your own space.
