Workplace Inspections & Maintenance

An ongoing system for conducting work site inspections, including maintenance of equipment and facilities, is an important element of EHSMS. Regular inspections and maintenance will:

  • proactively identify potential hazards that may not have been previously noted,
  • confirm the effectiveness of controls already in place, and
  • demonstrate commitment to health and safety.

Requirements and responsibilities for conducting workplace inspections at the University of Lethbridge are outlined in the Workplace Inspection and Maintenance Standard. This document also includes procedures and guidelines for performing inspections as well as inspection frequencies.
