Workplace harassment is behaviour intended to intimidate, offend, degrade or humiliate a particular person or group. Workplace violence is defined by the OHS Act as the threatening, attempted or actual conduct of a person that causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological injury or harm, and includes domestic or sexual violence.
Harassment and violence can take place at any work site and may range from disrespectful remarks to physical aggression. Addressing issues early on can prevent acts of bullying and harassment from progressing to acts of physical violence.
