Event Risk Management

Events are important to the culture of the University’s academic, research, social and community programs. With the planning and hosting of events that are sanctioned by the University or hosted upon its premises there may be some safety and risk management requirements to be addressed prior to the event proceeding.

An event planning form should be completed and submitted to Campus Safety, Insurance & Risk Services at least two weeks prior to the date of the event. Larger events with greater logistics may require more review time. Campus safety reviews events from the perspective of insurance, risk management, emergency planning, security, parking and safety. With the exception of ORS/RA activities, events planned by Student Clubs ratified through the University of Lethbridge Student Union (ULSU) must be reviewed and approved by the ULSU who in turn will communicate with Campus Safety to ensure all security, risk, emergency planning, parking and safety concerns are addressed.

The student activity event risk management form for ORS/RA activities must be submitted initially to Housing Services for review and sanctioning. If approved the event detail are communicated with Campus Safety and ULSU respectively.
