Professor Emeritus Edward Mikhail passed away in May 2018 while visiting Rhodes, Greece.

Mikhail was a member of the founding faculty of the Department of English, joining the University Section of Lethbridge Junior College in July, 1966. He was an associate professor until June, 1972 when he became a full professor. Mikhail continued teaching until he retired in June, 1993. One of the highlights of his career, as reported in The Meliorist on Nov. 30, 1989, was the creation of the “first ever” dictionary of adjectives, published in 1994 as the Cassell Dictionary of Appropriate Adjectives. Mikhail also donated approximately 3,400 books, mainly Anglo and Anglo-Irish drama/literature, to the U of L Library.
