The 2017 Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Competition will be aimed at supporting research projects that address any aspect of bioinformatics and computational biology, or B/CB, as it relates to genomics across all of Genome Canada’s sectors. Funding for projects in the competition will be distributed through two streams:
- Stream 1: proposals mainly impacting the human health sector
- Stream 2: proposals mainly impacting one or more of the other sectors, i.e., agriculture, aquaculture/fisheries, forestry, energy, mining and/or environment
The competition has been formally announced and we are anticipating a formal launch of the B/CB competition in December 2017 at which point detailed guidelines and application forms will be made available. The application process will be comprised of two steps: Registration and Full Application. Based on a December 2017 Competition launch, the National deadline for Registrations is currently set for February 1, 2018, and Regional registrations will have to be submitted to Genome Alberta by January 26th, 2018. Applicants will be required to apply for funding through their regional Genome Centre and Alberta applicants can obtain more information by contacting Program Coordinator Niall Kerrigan. We strongly encourage all interested applicants to contact Genome Alberta early on to discuss the initiative in more detail.
Additional details regarding the announcement can be found on Genome Alberta’s website.
