Bell Let's Talk - Brain Canada Mental Health Research Program

Brain Canada is pleased to be partnering with Bell Let’s Talk to launch the Bell Let’s Talk-Brain Canada Mental Health Research Program, a new funding opportunity to support novel and transformative research that will accelerate the integration of emerging scientific knowledge into developing and improving mental health care. The ultimate goal is the development of innovative solutions to ensure effective, sustainable, and accessible mental health care for all Canadians.

The Bell Let’s Talk- Brain Canada Mental Health Research Program will award grants of up to $950,000 each, over three years, to four Canadian research teams. Following peer review, selected teams will be invited to proceed to the Full Application stage. The deadline for Full Applications is July 6, 2021.

Eligibility

The funding opportunity is open to teams of two or more independent investigators from different institutions, or distinct research groupswithin the same institution.Teams must include at least one member with expertise in integrated KnowledgeTranslation. Dependingon the nature of the research project, teams shouldinclude one or more of the following as collaborators: People with Lived Experience (PWLE), carers, allied-health workers,and/orhealth administrators.

  • Investigators must beconducting researchat,and affiliated with,a Canadian institution for the entire duration of the grant. Academic appointments must have started by the deadline for Full Application submission.
  • Investigatorsmust be considered an independent researcher at their institution. Such an individual normally holds the rank of assistant,associate, or fullprofessor; can initiate and direct their own independent lines of research as principal investigator; has full responsibility for running their laboratories; has full control of their research funds; and is permitted to supervise trainees (if applicable, as per their institution’s policy). Postdoctoral fellows or adjunct faculty are not eligible to apply.
