Associate Director, The Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy

Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director of the Prentice Institute at the University of Lethbridge will provide additional leadership and administrative supports for internal and institutional operations of the Institute. The portfolio of the Associate Director is closely aligned with those of the other members of the Institute’s leadership, and their contributions are interdependent and coordinated. 
 
The Associate Director, in concert with other members of the Institute’s leadership team, will be: (a) responsible for providing managerial guidance to the operations of the Institute, and particularly its research, funding, and public activities and projects;  (b) Providing managerial input (including Human Resources requirements such as annual evaluation) in collaboration with the Director for the Institute’s administrative staff; (c) providing administrative guidance and support for all Institute employees (Post-docs, Research Associates, Analysts and Administrative Staff); and (d) Overseeing volunteer and communication/outreach programs. The Associate Director also ensures that the processes and policies to support graduate student success are in place and does so in collaboration with the School of Graduate Studies. 

Qualifications
 
A PhD and/or terminal degree with a proven track record in research, scholarly and artistic/creative work and leadership experience in an academic environment is required. A high level of proficiency in personal effectiveness and relationship-building competencies is vital. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the full breadth of applicable research, scholarly and artistic work encompassed within the University and particularly by the vision and mission of the Prentice Institute, including familiarity with the range of funding and collaborative opportunities offered by the Institute, and federal/provincial funding agencies. A record of demonstrated support or mentorship of both undergraduate and graduate students is an asset. 

Internal Search

This is an internal search limited to faculty members who hold a tenured appointment at the University of Lethbridge. This position is intended to begin 1 July 2021 with an initial term of three years, with the possibility of renewal.

Compensation

There is no salary associated with this position. However, the Institute is able to provide other resources to support both the time and research-relevant requirements of the position.
