Working on campus before and after October 1

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

First and foremost, we encourage everyone to work from home for the Fall 2020 semester if you are able to do so.

Faculty and staff who have found it impossible to work from home for various reasons are permitted to work on the Lethbridge campus. None of the buildings are open, so you currently need to apply for access and be given keys or access cards to open building doors. This application process will be in place until Oct. 1, 2020.

The campus will still remain a restricted-access campus after Oct. 1, but we are changing the process a bit for those of you who must work on campus. You will no longer need to apply, but you still must follow a process to get your keys or access cards because buildings will remain locked.

For those of you who work on the Calgary campus, work will continue remotely due to the closure of Bow Valley College.

For those who must work on campus, here is how you gain access:

Up until October 1, 2020

  • Staff access: Apply through your supervisor. Your supervisor will request access on your behalf.
  • Read the Return to Work Health & Safety Plan and Hazard Assessment developed by the Relaunch Coordinator for your unit. Let them know by email that you’ve read it.
  • WHMIS certification: If you work, study or research near or with chemicals or dangerous materials you need to complete the WHMIS certification.
  • Register your presence on campus every day. We need to know you are on campus. This is different than the application process. You can register using our new uLethbridge Safe app or continue to use the Being on campus registry.
  • Mask and safety practices: Wear your mask, wash your hands frequently, safe distance and sanitize your work areas.

After October 1, 2020

Same process for all faculty & staff:

  • Read the Return to Work Health & Safety Plan and Hazard Assessment developed by the Relaunch Coordinator for your unit. Let them know by email that you’ve read it. If you’ve already done this, great!
  • WHMIS certification: If you work, study or research near or with chemicals or dangerous materials you need to complete the WHMIS certification.
  • Wait to hear from us! Once you complete the safety training we assume you are seeking to work on campus. We will contact you to confirm this and provide details on how you will be able to access your work site.
