Verifying Student Identity

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

As the fall term fast approaches and excitement grows to welcome new and returning students to campus, the Registrar's Office would like to remind staff who serve students to follow best practices when using student information.

Always encourage students to utilize the secure, single sign-on uLeth services online like the Bridge, whenever possible. When providing services to students in person, ensure they present uLeth student or government-issued photo identification. When providing services to students by email, ensure they use their secure uLeth account to send and receive communication with you. Finally, when providing services to students by phone, verify key personal information, including student ID, name and birthdate.

If you are concerned you are being asked to share information with someone and you feel you have not been able to adequately verify their identity, take additional steps to feel confident you are following best practices, such as speaking with your manager.
