University of Lethbridge practica, co-op, placement, and applied study students

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

Dear students,

You will hear shortly, or you may already have heard, from the Dean of Health Sciences or Dean of Education regarding guidance for practica and placements that are overseen by their Faculties.  We will not put our students and community at risk, and we will follow the guidelines of accredited health professionals and professional bodies.

Students in Applied Studies placements are recommended to work remotely. If this is not possible, we recommend you cease all placement hours. You can be assured there will be no punitive academic consequences for students who are not able to complete the minimum number of placement hours. Please continue to submit outstanding academic assignments electronically.

Co-op students unable to work remotely: please contact your Co-op Coordinator to discuss how to proceed. You can be assured there will be no punitive academic consequences for students who are not able to complete the minimum number of placement hours. Please continue to submit outstanding academic assignments electronically.

For all those involved in work-integrated learning experiences, students should only be remaining in any placements, practica, or co-op activities if the employer has put appropriate precautions in place and the student feels that it is safe to continue.  Students who do not feel safe in their workplace can self-report their absence and contact their Co-op coordinator or Deans office.
