Students issue Convocation invitation to faculty and staff

Spring 2016 Convocation is on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3, and on behalf of all of the students who will be graduating this year we would like to invite you to attend and share their special day with them.

Convocation celebrates the challenges and hard work that our students have faced to reach the finish line and attain their degree. When students attend the Commencement ceremony in September of their first year, they have no idea who any of the professors are; at Convocation they say goodbye to those individuals who helped them transition from the timid first year to the confident graduate, ready to enter the working world.

Convocation is your chance to see the successful, finished product of your teaching and collaboration, and celebrate the next generation of young people that you have helped to create.

Many of our students chose to attend the U of L because our smaller campus allows them to create relationships with their professors, and many choose to continue those relationships into graduate studies. Dozens of graduate students are leaving us this spring, some of whom you may have worked closely with. They would appreciate a chance to show you their gratitude, because you are not only a professor to them, you are also a mentor and a colleague!

When faculty attend Convocation they encourage the fostering of these relationships, and ensure that the unique campus culture that we have at the U of L continues to thrive.

If you have not already done so, please RSVP today, and come congratulate your students as they receive their U of L degrees!
