Student Employment Opportunity: Campus Information Services [Project]

NOTE: This is a project position possibly ending October 2, 2015—there is a possibility of an employment extension pending outcomes of an operational/project review.

Campus Information Services (CIS) requires Student Assistants to provide support at the CIS Desk, which is located across from the Tim Hortons in the PE building. The CIS Desk operates from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

CIS Desk Student Assistants provide direction/wayfinding, communication, and greeting services for students, their families, the local and University communities.

Additional services and support provided includes:

  • Responsible for receiving and directing telephone calls received to the University switchboard and recording related statistics.
  • Assisting departments with the preparation of event packages/portfolios, nametags, sortation of registrations, balloons, etc.
  • Assist departments with responding to email inquiries.
  • Maintaining the brochures stand located beside the CIS Desk.
  • Review the Services for Students webpage regularly to ensure that content is up-to-date and links are functioning correctly.

Student Assistants are casual positions with shifts that are not less than three hours in length. Individuals in these roles are required to be outgoing, have excellent customer service skills (particularly telephone etiquette), basic Microsoft Office skills, knowledge of the University’s campuses, and the programs and services provided by the institution.

Qualifications (other): Full/Part-time student status in fall 2015 semesters.

Wage: $10.60/hour [starting; under review]
