The University of Lethbridge is pleased to announce the creation of a President’s Advisory Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion comprised of representatives across the University from each employee group and including a graduate and undergraduate student representative.

Nicole Eva, University Librarian, will Chair the Committee that is mandated to review and provide an inventory of policies, plans, activities and initiatives associated with diversity, equity and inclusion from across the University and to conduct a comparative analysis amongst similar Universities in Alberta and Canada.

“I am excited to be asked to Chair this university-wide committee”, says Eva.  “We have identified an initial list of experts across campus to consult with and I look forward to engaging with these people as we move forward with our work”.

“This is an important initiative on our campus and I look forward to discussing the Committee’s review”, says Mike Mahon, President.  “We are pleased to include a number of people from across campus in this important discussion that will form our way forward in this area”.

The Committee will begin to meet in late April and it is hoped that the initial phase will conclude by the end of the year.   Membership besides Eva includes Gideon Fujiwara (History), Wim Chalmet (Facilities), Imaru Baquero (International), Helen Kelley (Graduate Studies), Nancy Pastoor (Human Resources), Kori-Lee Nicolle (General Counsel), and Rhonda Crow (Dhillon School of Business).  Two student representatives will also be invited to join.  Several experts across campus have been identified for the committee to consult with.
