Positive test of U of L community member

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

The University of Lethbridge has received confirmation from Alberta Health Services that a member of our University community (Lethbridge campus) has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

This individual contracted COVID-19 while travelling and immediately self-isolated upon returning and has NOT attended campus since their return. As a result of this individual’s prudent actions, the risk of potential spread is minimal. Public Health officials communicated with the individual immediately upon notification and have implemented their protocols, including communicating and following up with all close contacts and potential contacts as they deemed necessary.

We share this out of an abundance of caution and to alleviate concern within our campus community.

U of L officials have confirmed the positive test with the individual in question and signaled to them that we would be communicating with our community on this matter, while assuring confidentiality.

The University continues to work closely with, and take guidance and advice from, Alberta Health Services to ensure the safety and wellness of our community. This case occurred in a returning traveller who rightly self-isolated immediately upon their return, thereby minimizing any potential exposure to others in the city.

The risk to others at our campus remains low. We remind all members of our community to practice hand hygiene and physical distancing.
