November is Career Month at the University of Lethbridge

Future is the focus for November as the University of Lethbridge’s Career Bridge: Centre for Work-Integrated Learning and Career Development presents a host of activities for students in celebration of Career Month.

Students who take part in (at least eight) sessions throughout the month will gain credit towards their MyExperience Transcript (MET), which complements the academic transcript and is designed to reflect a student’s curricular and co-curricular experiential learning opportunities.

Option: Book an appointment with a Career Coach and/or Co-op Coordinator

            - Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24: 2 to 6 p.m.

Nov 2: How to Provide and Receive Effective FeedbackGiving effective feedback is a vital aspect of communication. Being able to provide and receive effective feedback will help us improve, grow, and learn. In this workshop, learn how to effectively provide and receive feedback.

Nov 3: 10 a.m.: Experience Volunteerism
Volunteering helps build skillsets outside your degree, gain connections in the community & helps you discover new interests that will set you above the competition when seeking employment. Join Nicholas, uVolunteer Coordinator, as he discusses the benefits of volunteerism and how you can start volunteering, encouraging students to use their skills and passions to impact the community.

Nov 5: 2 p.m.: School of Graduate Studies – Master’s TriCouncil (NSERC/SSHRC/CIHR) Application Workshop

Nov. 17: 2 p.m.: Your Brand Matters (RBC on campus team presentation)
During this presentation we will focus on the basics of a brand – What is it and what makes a good one. Presented by the RBC On Campus – University of Lethbridge Team, which will go over how you show up professionally, your first impression, and how social media can make or break your personal brand. Also, we will discuss how to build a personal brand that’s meaningful to you and give tips to help the students build an effective elevator pitch.

Nov. 19: 11 a.m.: RBC Olympian Hailey Daniels
Canoe Slalom Olympian Hailey Daniels has dominated women’s canoe slalom circuit in Canada, winning 3 straight national C-1 Titles from 2012-2014.  Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, she grew up in an athletic family which included a brother and father involved in the canoe slalom, and a grandfather who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Hailey is very active on Social Media/Internet platforms, and will discuss her unique background and upbringing, tips for social media, the importance of self-branding and networking.
