New Combined Degrees

Expanded Teaching Opportunities
As Career and Technology Studies (CTS) in schools evolves to a more creative media design and communication focus, the Faculties of Fine Arts and Education now offer a 50-course combined degrees program leading to the awarding of two degrees: Bachelor of Fine Arts - New Media and Bachelor of Education.

Earn Two Degrees
If you attend full-time, the combined degrees take five years to complete and you graduate with two degrees.  Your first degree (BFA - New Media) covers the subject you want to teach, while at the heart of the Education degree (BEd) are three professional semesters, which provide practical experience through supervised placements in schools.

New Media
New Media courses introduce diverse materials, technical skills, and a range of new media areas including graphic design, web design and development, interaction design, 3D modelling, animation, gaming, photography, narrative screenwriting, digital audio and video production, and historical and contemporary new media theory.

New Media uses digital technologies for communication and creative endeavours.  By combining traditional approaches to creativity with digital and interactive media you become a versatile new media professional, critical thinker and adaptable instructor.  The breadth of our program enables you to share your artistic and design knowledge in various educational contexts.
