House fire leaves U of L student and two young sons without a home

On Thursday, April 28, 2016, a University of Lethbridge student, a single mother and her two young boys (aged 1 and 7), lost her home to fire.

First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) Student Services is currently accepting donations of food, diapers, baby wipes, toys, clothing, gift cards and school supplies until 4 p.m. Friday, April 29 and again beginning at 9 a.m. Monday morning. Donations can be dropped off at the FNMI Gathering Place in the Paterson Centre.

A Go Fund Me page has also been established (https://www.gofundme.com/2e3n4d84) and donations of clothes can be made in the following sizes: boy (1) clothing size 4T, size 5 shoe; boy (7), clothing size 10, size 3 shoe; mother, size 10 jeans, women’s large.

Incidents like this can be traumatic for those affected both directly and indirectly. Support services are available on campus for those students and employees who may need assistance. Students are encouraged to access help through the Counselling Services office (http://www.uleth.ca/counselling), while faculty and staff have access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program (http://www.uleth.ca/hr/pension-and-benefits/employee-and-family-assistan...).
