Equitrac/Follow-You Printing Unavailable Tuesday August 22 at 7:30 AM

When will this happen? 

The changeover will occur starting Tuesday August 22 at 7:30 AM.  It is expected that Follow-You print, copy and scan to Ricoh devices will be offline until approximately 10:00 AM.

Who will be affected and how?

Printing, copying and scanning on the Ricoh multi-function devices will be unavailable during the upgrade, which includes the backend Equitrac print management platform (Follow-You, etc.).  This timeframe was selected to minimize the impact that this transition will have on campus printing.

This upgrade has also introduced new print client software, which impacts Mac or PC users that use the existing client software.  If you are normally prompted for credentials when printing, then Follow-You printing will no longer work.

Anyone that requires the new client software reinstalled on their computer should contact the IT Solution Centre, Management Tech Services or Education Tech Services to arrange a time for this installation to take place.

As an alternative, you can now use the new HotSpot Print application.  This is a web based application that allows you to upload files for print and release them at any Follow-You Ricoh device.

Why is this happening?

The new fleet requires new software for enhanced print management capabilities.  A changeover window is required to bring these systems online and transition existing printers.

What’s changing?

We will be changing from two print queues “Follow-You on printserver” and “Follow-You Colour on printserver” to one print queue “campus on anc-printing1”.

The new print queue can be used to print both black & white and colour files.

By default, the print queue will be set to print black & white. If you do not change any settings, your colour document will print and be charged as black & white.

NEW – The HotSpot printing platform is a  web based application that allows you to upload your print files to Follow-You for release at any of the Ricoh devices.
