Independent Studies Opportunity FALL 2018 / SPRING 2019

Dr. Borries Demeler
Solution Biophysics
Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry

The Demeler lab invites students to apply for an independent research position. Our lab offers projects in a broad range of topics and fields. Skills from many different subject areas will be helpful (biochemistry, molecular biology, material science, physics, math, engineering (3D printing) and computer science).

The Demeler lab develops software for the analysis of analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) experiments and has unique equipment not available anywhere else in the world. AUC is a biophysical application for the study of macromolecular interactions in the solution phase.

Our focus is both on experimental studies as well as computer programming applications (C++, Qt framework) and the integration of related biophysical applications such as small angle X-ray and neutron scattering, and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy. Depending on the project, the work can be completed remotely or in the laboratory located in the Water and Environmental building. Interested students should contact Borries Demeler (demeler@uleth.ca) and schedule an appointment to discuss a project.
