COVID-19 — Employee Update, Mar. 18

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 situation, I want to share the following information with you.

Restricted Access to Campus

As the situation continues to progress, we acknowledge our obligation to be part of widespread public health efforts by limiting access to campus as much as possible.

The expectation is that only those employees required to work on campus to maintain business continuity may do so. All other employees are required to work remotely.

We understand that there are questions about how this will impact employees. A Human Resources FAQ has been posted to help managers and employees navigate this transition. We will supplement this by posting tomorrow an information document, and accompanying website, called Working From Home.

We understand that restricted access to campus will also have implications pertaining to research and information regarding this can be found here. Relatedly, Science Commons will only be accessible to those with card access.

All University of Lethbridge events, both on-campus and off-campus, are cancelled until further notice.

For your information, we have sent a message to our students indicating that only students who live on campus or who are in need of the specified study spaces in Anderson Hall to utilize U of L wi-fi or technology, should be on campus. Anderson Hall spaces will be monitored and frequently cleaned. All other study spaces will be closed and computer stations will be disabled.

Zoom Update

While there are many modes through which University employees may work from home, Zoom technology is available.  Members of the U of L community interested in using the Zoom technology platform, visit this link to get started.

If you have questions on how to use Zoom, check out this guide, which was created previously for faculty but will help all employees to optimize this resource.

Thank you for being diligent during this extraordinary time. We all have a responsibility take the necessary actions to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Mike Mahon, PhD
President and Vice-Chancellor
