Condolence Notice — Paul Wiens

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

The University of Lethbridge extends sincere condolences to the family, friends and former colleagues of Paul Bernard Wiens, who passed away in Ottawa on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the age of 77.

Wiens was appointed University of Lethbridge librarian in May, 1981. He was at the helm of the Library during a time when expansion was needed, demand for services was growing and online access to library materials was just an idea. In 1986, Wiens left the U of L to join the University of Saskatchewan. His most recent position was at Queen’s University.

A private funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28 in Ottawa with the option for remote attendance. An obituary and a link to the service live stream is available online at Merge9.

This year, the University of Lethbridge is lowering its flag from Monday, Nov. 30 to Friday, Dec. 4 to honour all those members of our community, including Wiens, who have passed away this year.
